 About Us

Dental Hygiene Smiles is an independent dental hygiene clinic located in Thunder Bay, Ontario. This is a brand new concept in dentistry which began in 2007 after legislation was passed that allows self-initiated dental hygienists to operate independently without an onsite dentist. Dental Hygienists who are authorized by the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario (CDHO) to 'self initiate' do not require the client to have an order from a dentist. Dental hygiene clinics allow improved access to dental hygiene care and flexible hours which is an important part of overall health and wellness.

In addition to regular cleaning, we provide a full scope of dental hygiene services including dental hygiene examinations and assessments, stain removal and polishing, fluoride, pit and fissure sealants, teeth whitening, treatment for tooth sensitivity, and fabrication of customized sports mouthguards. At Dental Hygiene Smiles, we are committed to maintaining your complete oral health, and offer a comprehensive referral service to connect our clients with the right care for their specific needs, whether it is a dentist, periodontist, or orthodontist required.

Dental hygiene clinics follow the Ontario Dental Hygienists’ Fee Guide and we encourage you to give us a call and ask about any fees or services you may be interested in. Also, our services are covered by most insurance companies, and we can take care of the paperwork for you!
